Squirrels Gone Nutz: April

Hi and welcome! It’s again time for the Squirrels Gone Nuts hop! The theme for April is Florals and Watercolors (we always have a theme and randomly selected supply or technique). If you have arrived here from the sweet Karen, it means that you are on the right track.

For my background I decided to use a watercolor spray that I’ve had for a long time and never used. It was a freebie with an order and the color is…. well, not something that I like much. I took a piece of watercolor paper, spayed a bit of water and then used the spray. Sprayed a bit more water and placed a stencil on top. Left all to dry overnight and this was the result:

The background.

I won’t lie that it wasn’t easy to decide what to do next. After two weeks of staring at this piece (and running out of time) I decided to go with heat embossed in white florals on vellum. I used Studio Katia’s Spring Bouquet stamp set and die three times. Arranged the die cuts around the sides of the card panel, cut the excess off and added it to another part. To finish off the card I cut a frame in Lime pearlescent cardstock (I didn’t want to go with black or white). Added a sentiment and white matte gems.

Closer look.

That’s all from me. I hope you’ll hop along! Your next stop is the lovely Anna πŸ™‚

CCC – December Blog Hop

Hello! It’s time for our last Collected Crafty Collabs hop. Theme for the month is Snowman/Snowpeople and the bonus theme is Sparkle.

You should have came from the fabulous Anna’s blog and I’ll tell you a little bit later about your next stop.

It has been so much fun finding all those ‘forgotten’ supplies and making something with them πŸ™‚ I decided to use a stamp set that I haven’t used for a whole year! Avery Elle’s Snow Fun. I love this snowman so much that I had to use him. Just look at his face πŸ™‚ I stamped him on watercolor paper and first I created the background. Kinda just playing with the watercolors and watching the water doing the magic. Once I was happy with the wintery scene, I colored the snowman. And once all was dry, I added white texture paste through falling snow stencil.

For the bonus sparkle theme I applied Nuvo Glacier paste in Frostbite around the edges of a white cardstock piece (same size as my card base). Once that was dry, I adhered the watercolored panel and then all onto my cardbase. I also added 3 glitter snowflakes and clear Wink of Stella to the white part of the snowman’s hat. Lastly, I added Nuvo Crystal Glaze on the nose and the gift’s bow.

I managed to film my process:

So this is all from me. I hope your holidays are merry and bright and the next year better, healthier and happier!

And now please head over to see what lovely Val has created πŸ™‚ After her is the sweet Marie!

Hugs,

Christmas Craft Creations – Winter Blues

Hello and welcome to the Christmas Craft Creations challenge for the month of December. The theme is Winter Blues and all the details and rules can be found here.

I had recently bought a new watercolor set so I decided to use it for my cards. I took two blues: Indigo and Ultramarine. But first I stamped and heat embossed in gold snowflakes from Stamperia’s Snowflakes stamp set on watercolor paper. I didn’t do a great job stamping so some of the snowflakes came out partially but that was totally fine. Next step: just playing with the colors and lots of water.

For card number one I added vellum on top with heat embossed sentiment “Peaceful Christmas Time” in Finnish, adhered die cut snowflakes (leftovers from another project) and added sequins for a bit more sparkle.

Card number two: matted the watercolor panel on textured blue cardstock, added vellum strip with the sentiment “Let it snow” and added also sequins.

I hope you will join us in this month’s challenge πŸ™‚

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a better and healthier 2021!

Hugs,

Boryana

Warm Wishes

Hello! Today I am sharing a winter / holiday card with a digital stamp image and watercolors.

The stamp is “Christmas Cheer” by Graciellie Design and I printed it on watercolor paper. The sentiment is by Tonic Studios, stamped on vellum and heat embossed in gold.

I used Altenew watercolors for the whole image. Then added pearl pigment powder in Silky Gold mixed with a drop of water (ot the saucer) and sealed it with Nuvo Crystal Glaze. I also added Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone to the Poinsettia.

Closer look of all the details.

Sassy&Crafty: Christmas Slimline Card

Hi and welcome to the Sassy and Crafty Colorful Hop! The hop is taking place on YouTube and I’ll have a link to my video a little bit down.

I chose to use watercolors to color the adorable little lamb from Plushies – Sleepy Lamb Stamp set. I gave him a red hat and made a Christmas card πŸ™‚

Round Card

Hello! Today I’m sharing a very quick and easy round shaped card.

I used leftover Distress inks what I had on my palette to watercolor the Flora Background by Simon Says Stamp stamped with Delicata Golden Glitz ink. I didn’t leave the golden ink fully dry, which gave a nice and even glittery coat. It’s almost impossible to capture it on the pictures but it is better seen in my process video.

I went for a circle shaped card with a mirrored frame and I also added the sentiment “Paljon Onnea” which is “Congrats” in Finnish. Added few more extra details and the card was done.

You can see the video here:

With this project I am entering Jehkotar Craft Challenge # 58 Bingo rivi: Jotain leimattua – PyΓΆreÀÀ muotoa – VesivΓ€rit.

Thank you for stopping by and have a lovely day πŸ™‚
