Squirrels Gone Nutz: March

Hi and welcome! It’s again time for the Squirrels Gone Nuts hop and this is my most favorite time of the month! The theme for March is Green with Special Cardstock (we always have a theme and randomly selected supply or technique). If you have arrived here from the wonderful Anna, it means that you are on the right track.

I knew right away that I’ll be making a Spring card and I had the perfect stamp set Finally Spring by Create a Smile (bought it in December but never used). I loved seeing the snowdrops in my Grandma’s garden as a kid and I knew that soon Spring comes.

I stamped the images on newish to me paper Claire Fontaine DCP with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink. I used YG17 and YG03 Copic markers for the green parts and BV00, C1 and C0 for the petals. Also BG000 to outline all. I fussy cut the images out. For background I used Craft Perfect handcrafted paper called Geometric Galaxy. For a bit more interest I cut twice a frame out of white cardstock. Dies are from Tonic Craft kit 14 and if you still haven’t figured it out, I try to use dies from these kits every month 🙂 . I stamped and heat embossed in clear my sentiment onto a tag from another Tonic Craft kit, I believe it was number 32. I used leftover piece of white/green twine to attach the tag to the frame. I added foam squares behind the top parts of the snowdrops for a bit more dimension.

Closer look.

Once I had all adhered onto a white cardbase, I added a light green sequin on the knot of the twine and filled it in with Nuvo Crystal Glaze. Lastly, added clear Wink of Stella.

This month I have also a video:

Please, head over to the sweet V’s blog. I hope you’ll enjoy the hop 🙂

  1. This is so pretty Bory ! Love the white and green combo ! We used a similar paper but I just realized with your photo that it’s not the same so I have the wrong paper’s name on my blog :p

  2. Absolutely stunning!!! I’m in love with the background paper… excellent choice!!! And those pretty snowdrops just pop off the paper! The die cut frame brings it all together. This almost reminds me a little of a modernized version of the old fashioned seed packets. You’ll have to forgive me that I have gardening on the brain this week!!! 😉 You are probably still buried in snow but I am able to plant in the garden this weekend. When I’m done, I’m totally running some specialty paper through an embossing folder to see if I can get something similar to this!!! I love the texture so much, I would just sit and pet this card all day! 💚

  3. This is such a gorgeous card!!!! I love the green and white combo and I love how the snowdrops emerge from the frame! The tag and twine with the sequin is the perfect final touch!

  4. I *LOVE* that background paper as well…I just want to run my fingers over it! The white frame really adds so much to this card, as it allows that gorgeous green paper to stay really visible, but also provides the eyes with a break from “so much” green all at once. Beautiful card, Bory! 🙂
